Byron for Grown Women: A Slower, Softer, Better Way to Do Byron Bay
Hi darling,
Growing up, we spent a lot of time in Sydney while my father was working in Australia — and even back then, Byron Bay had this almost mythical pull. We always wanted to go, but it wasn’t until last spring that I finally made it there, this time with my daughter. And let me tell you — it’s just as fabulous as I’d hoped. It’s not only for the yogis and surfers (though they’re well catered for); there’s something for every age and energy. We’re already planning our return, and if you’re thinking of going too, here are a few ideas that might help you plan something special.
SOMA is a contemporary oasis only a short 10 minute drive from the centre of Byron yet feels like a sanctuary tucked away in the rainforest of the hinterland in Byron Bay.

Byron Bay has long attracted barefoot yogis, eco-millionaires, and visiting influencers with too much fringe. But if you know where to look (and more importantly, where not to stay), Byron still delivers — this time for grown women who’ve earned their weekends and know the value of silence, service, and spa-quality linen.
This is Byron, edited: less noise, more nourishment.
What to Do: Soulful Stops Worth Leaving the Pool For
The Farm
Just outside town and worth every dusty sandal step. A working farm, bakery, eatery and community hub with exceptional food, shady spots for long conversations, and room for kids to run feral while you enjoy a slow glass of something excellent. https://thefarm.com.au/
The Farm - Three Blue Ducks - Byron Bay
The Habitat
A design-savvy collective on the outskirts that’s perfect for a midmorning wander — homewares, fashion, skincare, and the sort of ceramics you want to run your hands over. https://www.habitatbyronbay.com/
The Hatbitat is worth a drive to check it out
Navia Bathhouse
Byron’s newest wellness sanctuary. Clean design, clever rituals, and a breath of fresh air if you’re craving contrast therapy without the faux-mysticism. https://www.naviabathhouse.com.au/
Navia brings the essence of Scandinavian bathhouse culture to Byron Bay.
Walk the Lighthouse Track
Not original, but timeless. Go early, wear linen, and stop halfway for a coffee with a view. Let your mind breathe.

Where to Stay: Three Considered Choices
1. If You’re With Family (and Want a Cocktail Within Walking Distance): Elements of Byron
Just out of town but still connected, Elements offers a bit of everything: direct beach access, a fantastic pool, decent on-site dining, and enough space for everyone to retreat when needed. Rooms are calm, modern, and blissfully separated. https://elementsofbyron.com.au/

2. If You’re Here to Heal or Hide: Gaia Retreat or Soma
Gaia (co-founded by Olivia Newton-John) is all intuitive treatments, plant-forward menus, and lush surroundings. Soma, made famous by Nine Perfect Strangers, is architectural, remote, and ideal for group bookings — or anyone seeking a reset without strict programming.

SOMA - So Stunning
3. If You’re Style-Obsessed and Not Bothered About Town Access: Sun Ranch
It’s not in Byron. That’s the point. Think Californian desert lodge energy meets curated Australian cool. Horses, hot tubs, and a bar that looks like we need to pull up at it. Go with friends, every rancher receives an icy cold beer or salty margarita upon arrival and stay put, best for families, we found to be the Sun Ranch barns. https://www.sunranch.com.au/

A Wise Woman Note
Byron doesn’t have to mean noise and night markets. It can mean nourishing meals, quality time, long baths, and walks with no one asking you to join a cacao ceremony. If you’ve aged out of the drum circle but not the desire for a little magic, Byron still has room for you.
